The Church is made up of God's people, just like a family. And just like a healthy family, Promise is made up of children, youths, young adults, families, and older members. We sing songs to God, connect with each other, preach what the Bible says, give and live the way God says, and try our best to show God's love in practical ways. Everyone is at a different place in their walk with God, but the goal is that we walk with God! Promise is just real people doing what we can to grow closer to God.
We hope to see you this Sunday!
Pastors Jeff and Karen met in the youth group at Bethel in Riverside in 1976. After they began dating, they taught Sunday School classes together, helped build the Singles Ministry, and after their marriage in 1988 they helped build the Young Married's Ministry. Jeff finished Bible College there, and with the church's blessing they moved to their next place in ministry at a church in Yorba Linda where they built the Youth and the College & Career Ministries. Again with the church's blessing, they moved to San Luis Obispo, where Jeff served as Youth Pastor at the Vineyard Church, now known as Mountainbrook Community Church, helping kids get born again, baptized, discipled, and sharing their faith with peers.
In just a couple years, they answered the call back to the Corona area, and moved back home. In a short while they were back in ministry, with Jeff serving as Associate Pastor. After that, God called them to South Hills Church where Jeff joined the Worship Team playing his saxophones, helped organize the Small Groups Ministry and taught in their Bible School of Ministry. Karen served as the Women's Ministry Director, seeing hundreds of women turn their hearts toward Jesus and loving their families.
They have seen fruit in every area of ministry. Jeff is a talented and anointed speaker, and a gifted pastor. Karen is an inspirational woman of God with an easy connection with other women and a wisdom beyond her years. Founding Promise Christian Church, the two have the full support of local pastors who believe in them and with their vision. "Local Christian churches are in battle ALONG with each other, not AGAINST each other," Jeff says. "When we remember that we're on the same team, working to win lost souls and equipping God's people to live full lives, we fulfill the Great Commission and the Great Commandment!" |
